When someone starts in voice-over work, they often think that “the voice” is located in the throat. A common mistake. The voice is the result of the entire body working together: breathing, posture, energy, emotion, and mind. If any of these elements fail, the voice suffers.

In voice-over, a forced, tired, or tense voice almost always reveals a disconnected body. Rigid shoulders, a stiff back, shallow breathing… all of that can be heard. Even if no one sees you, the body always speaks through the voice.

The Taoist approach proposes something simple yet powerful: stop pushing the voice and start allowing it to flow. When the body is aligned and relaxed, the voice finds its natural path. It’s not about “using force,” but about creating the right conditions for sound to emerge effortlessly.

Before recording, ask yourself: how is my body today? Sometimes stretching your back, releasing your neck, or simply taking a deep breath can completely change the quality of a recording. Ideally, you should have a warm-up routine and relaxation techniques so your instrument can perform at its best.
